What is Pain Management?
Pain management is a comprehensive, personalized approach to identifying and treating discomfort in pets. At Wheatland Animal Hospital, it starts with a thorough physical exam and diagnostic imaging to pinpoint the exact source of pain—rather than assuming symptoms are simply “old age” or arthritis. From there, our team, led by Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioners, builds a treatment plan combining rehabilitation therapy, joint-building treatments, stem cell or PRP therapy, supplements, and medications as needed—all performed in-house for consistent, convenient care.
Pain Management Is Used For:

Arthritis and Degenerative Joint Disease
Managing chronic joint pain and stiffness to help pets stay active and comfortable as the condition progresses.

Post-Surgical or Injury-Related Pain
Controlling pain after surgery or injury to support healing and a smoother return to normal activity.

Chronic Joint or Mobility Issues
Addressing ongoing discomfort that limits movement, helping pets maintain independence and quality of life.

Soft Tissue Injuries and Inflammation
Reducing pain and swelling from strains, sprains, or other soft tissue damage to support faster recovery.

Age-Related Stiffness and Decreased Activity
Easing the aches that come with aging so senior pets can stay comfortable and engaged.
What Pet Parents Should Know
Pain isn’t always obvious—while limping or reluctance to move are clear signs, many pets show more subtle symptoms like defensiveness, reduced interaction, or withdrawn behavior. Because these signs can be easy to miss or misattribute, proper diagnosis matters. A detailed exam and imaging help our team assess both the source and severity of pain, ensuring your pet receives the most effective, targeted treatment rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Early intervention can make a significant difference in comfort, function, and long-term quality of life.
